The residents of Gueishan community mainly come from Turtle Island. Since 1820, their ancestors had lived on fishing on the island; however, all dwellers were asked to move to Taiwan mainland due to military control in 1977. During the period of 157 years, a distinct fishing culture was formed. This center is established to document how people strived with the hardship of life on such remote island. Fishing gears used in those days provide the first hand information. The traditional kite with 72 angles and house models are also in display, allowing visitors to learn the wisdom of traditional technical skill with fun and joys.
